Master of Arts
The MA program requires 45 quarter hours of graduate-level
mathematics courses, including at least 12 hours of approved
courses at the 4000 level. No thesis is required.
Master of Science
The MS program requires 45 quarter hours of graduate level
courses, including 12 hours of approved 4000-level mathematics
courses. Up to 15 quarter hours may be in an approved cognate
area. No thesis is required.
Tool requirement (Master of Science only)
One tool is required to be chosen from among the following: proficiency in the use of a modern computing type-setting system; approved outside courses; laboratory experience; or reading competency in French, German or Russian.

At most 10 quarter hours of courses from another university may count towards a masters degree. Such courses MUST BE APPROVED IN WRITING by an advisor from the Mathematics faculty.
